The Big Five
5 Business Lessons We Have Learned In 5 Years Of Business
As a business incubator, we have had the honor to help hone, mentor, and grow a number of ventures. At five years old, we have learned valuable lessons along the way; some through our own journey and some lessons have been learned through the ventures we have incubated.
Here are 5 lessons that have whetted our tools for success:
1. Deal With Issues As They Arise
What is worse than a problem that is difficult to solve? A problem that you could have solved before it became a difficult problem to solve. The act is far more exhausting than reading that sentence was. We have learned that it is best to tackle problems within the business before they grow into monstrous disbenefits.
2. Team Work Makes The Dream Work
A team that performs optimally and communicates well is imperative. Over our 5 years of incubation and acceleration, we have understood that we, as a business, are only beneficial to the ventures we incubate if we are on top of our game as a unit.
3. Change Is Good
You need to open to change. Be willing to pivot your product and processes. Resistance to adaptability could stifle the growth of your business.
4. Digital Is Gold
The pandemic has taught us that the digital world is the way to go. As a service centered organization, we are able to carry out operations, meet with stakeholders, administrate as per usual. Social media presence maintains our connections with the world and retains visibility.
5. The Problem is The Solution
As far as supply chain management is concerned, COVID-19 created a problem for multiple businesses whose supply chains extended outside of the country. The problem is the solution in that there is now an increase in the drive to localize the value and supply chains, where economically and technically viable. Additionally, this solution opens the way to job growth in our country.
