Digital Marketing

3 simple ways to get started with digital marketing

3 Ways to set up a Digital Marketing Strategy

1) Web

The first choice for a good and solid digital marketing strategy is ensuring you have a website. Most people have access to a smartphone with an internet connection so they can easily access information on products and services.

When setting up your website ensure that you use keywords relevant to your product or service industry, you'd be amazed at the difference it makes when it comes to your Google ranking. (Not sure what the ranking of your website is? Visit https://www.thehoth.com/search-engine-rankings/).

2) Online Advertising

Online advertising is exactly what it sounds like using the internet as a medium to deliver all your marketing and promotional messages to consumers. As opposed to traditional marketing tactics which typically involve a "spray and pray" approach, online advertising allows you to target the exact audience you specify. The second benefit is that you can reach a large audience over a large geographical area and target a specific group and the cost is the same for one as for millions. Studies show that more than 30 million South Africans have access to the internet (https://ewn.co.za/2018/02/05/nearly-60-of-south-africans-now-have-access-to-the-internet) and can, therefore, make use of a search engine like google to find their preferences. The adverts can be updated very easily as there are changes. As a business, you can measure how many people are viewing the page and clicking through. Online advertising can be accessed 24 hours a day giving you easy access to the various metrics which will allow you to assess what ads are working and which are not.

3) Social Media

Studies show that more than 40% of South Africans are using social media, particularly Facebook with just under 10% on Twitter and 2% on Instagram and YouTube respectively (https://gs.statcounter.com/social-media-stats/all/south-africa). That is a large audience for a relatively low cost. The benefit of social media is it's instant - in the moment, transparent - if a customer likes your products, they can post and share it with their network of friends.

Social media allows the customers to connect directly with the company and you can measure your marketing results thanks to the insights provided by the platforms. Social media can create increased awareness of your product and it can build relationships with your customers. It is fundamental for any business in their digital marketing strategy.
