Nelisa Tshayana 20 May 2022

Advantages of Being a Freelancer

Freelancing is growing exponentially and continues to include many individuals from all over the world.

Okay! So, you've clicked on this blog post, so chances are that you are thinking of freelancing, or you are currently a freelancer, or you just want to know more about freelancing. Either way, we are happy to have you and we hope you enjoy this blog.

Some of you may be wandering, "what is a freelancer?" The dictionary describes it as an individual who earns money on a per-job or per-task basis, usually for short-term work. A freelancer is not an employee of an organisation and may therefore complete the tasks at a time that fits them or their clients." The term freelancer comes from the 1800's and was used to describe a medieval mercenary who would fight for whichever nation or person that offered them the best play.

A freelancer tends to work in the creative sector such as video editing, music, dance, film or design, also in the skilled or service sectors such as computer programming, language translation, tutoring, event planning and consulting. Over the years freelancing has become so popular, even high school students are becoming freelancers. Furthermore, people aren't freelancing because they have to. Most people deliberately choose the freelance lifestyle. When you consider the advantages and independence that comes with being your own employer, this isn't too surprising.

If you've been thinking of starting a freelance business as a side business, part time or full-time job then you've come to the right place as we'll be sharing some advantages of being a freelancer.
